Did a hike up the Chimney Top trail starting at the ranger station. A must visit! The reason I gave it four stars though is because I'm a semi truck driver and there's no parking for us at all so you have to walk about a mile from the truck stop to get to it. They also have a nice little area for a picnic lunch or snack out front. The scenic overlook point is a spectacular view, and usually a very quiet spot. We were just traveling through and we saw a billboard and we thought we would stop. Amazing!! The neighborhood of Hillsboro Village is a great option for people who are attending college. However, there are not very many opportunities for higher education in Knoxville, with only the University of Tennessee and Johnson University to choose between. Cave system over all was a lot smaller than expected and shorter than others I've been to unless you pay more to do the wild tour. We did half hour mansion tour which included the grounds. Since there is not much to do in the area, without going to Nashville, I doubt we'll return. I found their firewood to be a better deal than that from stores in town. The amusement part of the park is closed which makes for a lot less people and activity. Casey and Ashley were excellent tour guides that knew a lot about the formations and answered all of your questions. The water was about upper thigh high (I'm 5'2") - the 2nd crossing was a little slippery, the water was just below knee high - we followed the rock bed through back to the left side. The trails and the water falls are amazing. The 295-mile road trip from Nashville to Gatlinburg takes 5 hours to drive. The waterfall is STUNNING.
